Thanks so much for reprinting the article from 1980. It summed up far better than I could have the sorry state of American (even California) food in the 50s and 60s, and the rapid transformation it underwent before my first son was born in 1988.
Congratulations!! You certainly deserve the award. I have enjoyed reading your discoveries and have marveled at what seems to be your boundless energy.
Dear Ruth: Thanks so much for the California Food Power article photo-reprint. So many illustrious names in your piece brought back food memories to me from my twenties when I lived in San Francisco. What a wonderful time of culinary discovery.
Ruth, I enjoyed your article so much today; I feel as though I visited The Whitney. A delicious and beautiful variety…thank you! Best wishes for a successful book tour. K
Congratulations Ruth! And I loved the article about California's culinary history! It was a walk down memory lane. As a Californian as of 1975, I have met many of the people you mentioned, dined in their restaurants, bought their cookbooks, shopped their stores, shared a glass of wine (or two), etc. I live in Napa Valley, and it is a vastly different place than it used to be, mostly for the better!
Congratulations on such well deserved recognition from The Foundation!!! You have so many fans that have been cheering you on for a very long time!!!!!
Congratulations, Ruth. A reward well earned and deserved. What a travel schedule. I don't know how you do it.
