I got one of the Angel Food pans! Somehow, in the clearing of my mom’s cabinets, Grandma’s Angel Food “tin” was in the to go pile. Hers had a removable base/cone which made detaching a bit easier. Edith made a wicked Angel Food Cake but I’ll try the recipe you shared. Then back to Mary Ann Cake pans and shortcake. Ah strawberries and summer!

My mom made wonderful angel food cakes! I remember her whipping the egg whites by hand, even though she had a stand mixer. I don't remember why. Perhaps it was easier to get them just the right consistency.

Strawberries and ‘66 Krug - only in Stella’s world ! 😁 Really enjoyed The Paris Novel!

Fulfilling characters, transcendent meals, extraordinary wine and an awakening to food that was a joy to read.

I haven't thought about angel food cake since I was a kid and Mom made it!

Thank you for the recipe and the trip down Memory Lane....

Just reading the dessert menu in this issue, from Campanile in 1989. I frequently don't order dessert but I think I would order one of each on this menu. Delicious and so different from the standard dessert options

I love NA wines, but totally agree about the reds - I’ve found that reds across the board aren’t quite at the same level as others. Giesen’s 0% New Zealand Red is the best I’ve had so far!

OH, speak, Memory! My grandmother's angel food cake when strawberries showed their little faces is one of my sweetest memories of that lovely cake appearing throughout my childhood. So glad you woke up a sleeping recipe classic!
