One of the only ways I will consider eating gefilte fish is alla veracruzana - a preparation I learned from Pati Jinich. So good!

Yipes! Lysol?!?

That Lysol ad is well-known. Lysol was once known for ridding an unwanted pregnancy. It's documented in Lesley Reagan's book "When Abortion Was a Crime."

So do you think that was a coded message in the ad? Or was it also used (incredibly) as a douche for "cleanliness"?

Definitely coded. All the drama, and all that stuff about “keeping yourself clean” and “delicate” to please your husband? AKA: not big with child and not focused on anything other than him. Creepy, isn’t it?

Creepy indeed. We have to make sure it's kept in the past. Tough work ahead!

I am planning a weekend trip to the Hudson Valley. I would love a restaurant or a must do/see suggestion.

Many must-dos. Churchtown Dairy. Kinderhook Farm. In Hudson: Talbott and Arding, Feast and Floret, Cafe Mutton, Hudson Wine Merchants. The Aviary Restaurant in Valatie (also The School art gallery there). Omega Center water recycling faciility near Rhinebeck. In Tivoli: Gio Batta and Fortune's Ice Cream. I could go on but I'll stop now...Next week I'll do an annotated list.
