hi Ruth, I just wanted to let you know that your articles are fabulous! I love how you share your archive of old menus, reflect on recipes that you love, its so refreshing to see images that aren't 100 percent polished and are scans of way back. I really admire your treasure trove of memories and artifacts. I've been so inspired by your new substack - I was heartbroken when you left Gourmet. I am going to try the spaghetti with bottarga tonight that you mentioned was something you often cook for yourself. Thank you so much for your articles here. I love them!

What an incredible lineup of chefs! Thank you for sharing. There was a wonderful retired chef here in Austin named William Wallace. Most of his career was spent in California, and he used to sit and share Julia Child stories with me. He was an amazing guy, and she was such an American icon. I am now over halfway through the Master's in Gastronomy program at Boston University, which was started by Julia and Jacques Pepin. I love how the gastronomy of America has grown and morphed over a relatively short period of time. The branches of genealogy are growing long and broad. You have been instrumental in that growth. Thank you for all you do:)
